Making a difference

I have always cared deeply about the industry that continues to inspire and influence the humans of this world. I believe it is my responsibility to help support those coming into our businesses and the Hospitality community .

restaurant association of NZ & beyond

‍As a member of 25 years through my various companies I have been involved in this

  • I run professional develop courses around the country on Leadership.
  • I work closely with the CEO of RANZ, Marisa Bidois .
  • I am one of the spokespeople for RANZ for all PR work
  • I am on the Education Trust Board which managers the funds for Training programmes and various assets.
  •  I am a member of the Ring Hora Steering Group which is currently developing the government funded training programmes within the industry around the country

advocacy

Six years ago, I identified a significant issue at RANZ: our lack of influence at the central government level meant the hospitality industry’s voice was rarely heard. With the support of Tony Adcock, President of the RANZ Education Trust, I persuaded RANZ CEO Marisa Bidois to shift the Association’s vision towards actively influencing regulatory decisions that impact our sector.
This achievement required years of dedicated effort, involving numerous visits to Wellington and strategic collaboration with a public relations expert to enhance our advocacy. As a result, our industry now benefits from a dedicated minister and a specific portfolio within the New Zealand Government.

Highlights of my work with RA

  • Running professional development courses around the country on Leadership.
  • In November 2021, I had the honour of representing Auckland's hospitality sector in a meeting with then Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to discuss the strategic timing for lifting Auckland's lockdowns during the Covid pandemic.
  • Collaborating with the Ministry of Social Development to secure stable employment for long-term unemployed individuals.
